When you see an abandoned shopping cart, carefully proceed to the cart and take a photo with your iPhone Cartsnap application. If it's possible, try to also capture a photo of the cart's handle, or wherever a unique store identifier might be on the physical cart.

There is no need to capture the street signs surrounding the cart's location, the GPS functionality in the application will tell us exactly where the cart is when the photograph is taken.
